What it is
Wynn Industrial Services does travel under two names. Travel Tech Guy sells software to travel advisors. Beyond YEG sells trips to travellers. The site at beyondyeg.com is a single editorial page. It has six showcase trips (Japan, Iceland, a Tanzania safari, the Maldives, Italy and Peru), each with its own page and a "from" price, plus an enquiry form and a short introduction from Jason as the advisor. Bookings go through a host agency, and its Ontario registration is printed in the footer.
Friday Flyday is the weekly series. The issues so far are:
- New Zealand
- Britain's wizarding trail
- Croatia with Northern Ireland and Iceland
- Antarctica
- Jordan
- the northern lights at Yellowknife
- Halloween in Las Vegas
- Bavaria's castles
- Morocco
- Patagonia
Each issue stays up permanently in a gallery, so the series builds into a library of trips a reader can still ask for.
How it works
Trip pages are generated, not hand-written: a data file of trips is rendered through one template. The showcase trips were drafted by the lab's own AI trip-builder in a middle mode. It shows the shape of a trip (highlights, phases, lodging tiers, a price band) and leaves the full day-by-day and the named suppliers for the planning conversation. Every price on the site carries the same label: a rough guide that moves with season and airfare, with real pricing confirmed when the trip is planned.
Friday Flyday runs from a queue of destinations. The queue is ordered by when to post them, not by preference: an aurora trip goes out in late summer, as the season opens, and a Christmas-market trip before the markets do. Each issue is re-costed the week it's written, using real flights from YEG, and priced in three tiers: comfortable, elevated and extraordinary. One selection rule governs the queue: feature only trips a reader can actually book this season, as pictured.
Publishing is automatic. A scheduled job runs on Friday evenings and publishes whatever issue is due. It stays quiet on an ordinary week and sends an alert if a due issue fails to go out. Before each banked issue goes live, the time-sensitive facts in it are re-checked: seasonal closures, festival dates, entry rules and fares. The file that lists them names them issue by issue. Social posts go out by hand.
Built with
- A static site. Hand-set HTML and CSS in an editorial layout, served over HTTPS.
- Generators, not hand edits. Python scripts build the trip pages, each Friday Flyday issue, the gallery and the social cards from data files, so a rebuild always reproduces the live page.
- Generated imagery. Photographic images and brand artwork are made with an image model, using its higher-quality tier for everything public. The Beyond YEG wordmark, emblem and Friday Flyday seal share one palette of teal, coral and gold, and one motif: a plane with a coral contrail over Edmonton's river valley.
- An enquiry handler that records every enquiry first and then emails it, sending from a dedicated identity that exists only to send. It filters spam with a hidden honeypot field and a blocklist.
- Analytics that count a lead only on a genuine enquiry.
- Voice rules written into the room's instructions. Prices are always a verified range, never a figure that looks exact. The copy describes places and suppliers, and doesn't award the brand adjectives.
Where it stands
Live. Nº10 Patagonia went out on 25 September 2026. Nº11 Sri Lanka, Nº12 Rajasthan and Nº13 Vietnam are built, priced and scheduled for 2, 9 and 16 October, each with its own list of facts to re-check first. The queue holds further destinations, ordered by the season in which each one is bookable.
